What is disaster recovery in the cloud?

Cloud disaster recovery or DRaaS is a service intended to protect workloads to a private or public cloud provider. When disaster occurs, the workloads can be restored to the cloud provider infrastructure and resume normal operation for your business.

A power outage, ransomware, human error can strike your data center at any time. DRaaS focuses on a short recovery point objective. This means that the data restored will be as close to its current ”now” state as possible. It will bring up your workloads in a geographically different location without a big impact or risk of loosing all your data.
